Day 1 Fly from UK to Copenhagen
Check into the 4* Copenhagen Admiral Hotel and a complimentary welcome drink. The room has a beautiful view of the inner harbour and you can see the Royal Opera, Ofelia Plads and the Royal Playhouse. With your Copenhagen card in hand, you can begin to explore this vibrant city. We recommend you head to Nyhavn harbour, known for its colourful buildings and lively atmosphere. Take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront and perhaps stop for a drink or lunch at one of the many restaurants and cafes. Or choose from one of our activities, such as a three-hour Gourmet Evening Stroll, which will include six tastings, wine and craft beer. Get an insight into how the locals like to spend their evenings.
Day 2 Full day in Copenhagen
Full day in Copenhagen to either spend at your leisure or enjoy a tour/activity organised by us, such as the Copenhagen in a Nutshell tour, a two-hour introduction to Denmark's capital that includes the iconic Royal Palace, the New Harbor, some famous Danish hygge and much more. In the evening, we recommend a visit to Tivoli Gardens, one of the world's oldest amusement parks, where you can seek your thrills on the oldest operating rollercoaster in Europe. Take a wander through the charming gardens and various entertainment on offer.
Day 3 Full day in Copenhagen
Another full day in Copenhagen, and we suggest a boat trip for a hidden gems tour of the harbour and canals, uncovering off-the-beaten-track locations. It's your last night in Copenhagen, be sure to experience the city's vibrant culinary scene. Consider trying traditional dishes like smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches) or indulge in famous Danish pastries.
Day 4 Train to Malmö
This morning, you are catching the train to Malmö and it's a short, but spectacular trip across the famous Øresund Bridge that links Denmark and Sweden. Once in Malmö, check into your hotel and then it will be time to explore the city on a two-hour bike tour. In the evening, why not eat meatballs at Restaurant Bullen, then pop next door to Hollandia to try a delicious Semla Bun for pudding.
Day 5 Full day in Malmö
Take the short train journey to the university city of Lund, where you will be given a tour to learn about the vikings, visit the medieval cathedral and of course look around the university. Cycle the spectacular (and pretty flat) route back to Malmö and then cool down with a visit to the open-air bath, Ribersborgs Kallbadhus, which is an oasis for both locals and visitors wanting to experience Swedish traditions such as sauna bathing and ice-swimming.
Day 6 Train to Gothenburg
After breakfast, a three-hour scenic train ride will deliver you to Gothenburg, where you will check into the 4* Hotel Riverton and enjoy a complimentary welcome drink. In the afternoon, you will have a one-hour tour of a chocolate factory that includes a tasting (of course) and the rest of the day is yours to explore Gothenburg. We recommend the splendid Gothenburg Museum of Art, which houses an impressive collection of Nordic and international art, or Haga, a charming neighbourhood known for its historic wooden houses and cobblestone streets. It's a great place to wander around, enjoy a fika (Swedish coffee break) and explore the local boutiques.
Day 7 Full day to Gothenburg
You're back on a bicycle in the morning for a 90-minute cycling tour of Gothenburg, the best way to see the city. You're in charge of your afternoon itinerary before a five-hour evening archipelago cruise, where you will stop at different islands to admire the breathtaking views, eat and drink.
Day 8 Train to Oslo
It's the final leg of your trip and you arrive in Norway's capital Oslo, where you will spend three nights. Top of your sightseeing list should be the Oslo Opera House, Royal Palace and the bustling shopping street of Karl Johan's gate. Work up an appetite because later in the afternoon you go on a street food tour to see the real Norway and taste its culinary highlights, which includes typical Norwegian cured delicacies, amazing waffles with brown cheese, special Oslo soda and Norwegian hot dog!
Day 9 Full day in Oslo
Another busy day, kicking off with a two-hour fjord sightseeing tour, passing through narrow sounds, idyllic bays and through a maze of islands with small summer houses. The afternoon brings something a little different: pizza-making in the wilderness! You will be taken to a beautiful lake, where you will learn to make authentic Italian pizza, hike through the stunning Norwegian nature, breathe in the fresh air and even try stand-up paddle boarding.
Day 10 Full day in Oslo
The last full day of your holiday and you will be left to explore Oslo as you please. Whether it's Ibsen's house, the Grand Café, the Munch Museum, admiring the views from the ski jump hill in Holmenkollen ... the choice is yours.
Day 11 Return to the UK
Your Copenhagen to Oslo train trip ends today and it's time to pack up, check out and fly home, hopefully having had a fantastic time and already planning your next train holiday.
