Day 1   London to Geneva via Paris

Skip the busy airports and settle into your premium Eurostar seat for the quick hop to Paris, where you will make the transfer from Gare du Nord to the Gare de Lyon to catch the train to the beautiful city of Geneva, surrounded by mountains and with amazing views of Mont Blanc.

Day 2   Full day in Geneva

A full day in Geneva that includes a 3-hour chocolate tour, where you will be shown some of the city’s best artisanal chocolateries – from traditional to modern. Enjoy all shapes and forms: from chocolate pralines, to truffles, ganaches, drinking chocolate and pastry. When you're not tasting chocolate, perhaps climb the 157 steps to the top of the Cathedral of Saint Pierre's tower to savour the panoramic view of the city and the lake. Explore the lively old town and the Place du Bourg-de-Four, which is the oldest square in the city, and admire the the Jet d’Eau fountain, a 140-metre-high water jet on the edge of Lake Geneva.

Day 3   Train to Zermatt

The train route from Geneva to Zermatt is beautiful, so jump into your 1st class carriage and enjoy the scenery as you make your way to the famous 1,600 metre-high mountain resort that sits below the iconic Matterhorn peak.

Day 4   Full day in Zermatt (Gornergrat Railway)

The Gornergrat Railway will take you from Zermatt to the top of Gornergrat in 33 minutes, which sits 3,100m above sea level. With constant Matterhorn views all the way up, the summit offers one of the world's best panoramas, with mountains and glaciers stretching on and on ...

Day 5   Glacier Express from Zermatt to St Moritz

Sit back and watch the dramatic Swiss scenery roll past as you ride the Glacier Express to St Moritz and enjoy a four-course lunch. Taking about 8 hours at an average speed of 24mph, curl up in your 1st class seats and gaze at the spectacular views through the panoramic windows. Day 6   Train  to Tirano; Tirano to Lugano

Moving on from St Moritz this morning (you can extend the trip and stay an extra night in St Moritz if you wish), you will take the stunning 2-hour Bernina Express route to Tirano in Italy, where you can either stop for lunch or head straight on to Lugano in Italian-speaking southern Switzerland, which sits on the northern shore of Lake Lugano.

Day 7   Full day in Lugano

A full day in Lugano, where you will combine a boat cruise on the lake with its crystal clear turquoise waters and picturesque surroundings, a contrast from the bustling city streets. Visit the beautiful northern villages of Gandria and Morcote, which were only accessible by boat for centuries.

Day 8   Gotthard Panorama Express to Lucerne

The Gotthard Panorama Express is a unique combination of boat and train, beginning on a 1st class panorama coach on the historical Gotthard panoramic route, before a boat from Flüelen will take you across the serene Lake Lucerne to Lucerne itself, where you will stay for the next 2 nights..

Day 9   Full day in Lucerne

Take the revolving Rotair cable car up to Mount Titlis for a half-day trip, where a magical winter wonderland awaits you all year round. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps, eating lunch on a panoramic terrace, explore the Glacier Cave, venture on the Cliff Walk and ride the Ice Flyer chairlift to the Glacier Park, where you can go snow tubing down the glacier. Alternatives to this tour are a 1st class lunch boat trip, or even just spend the day exploring Lucerne.

Day 10   Lucerne to Zurich

It's a short but beautiful train journey from Lucerne to vibrant Zurich, Switzerland's largest city, where you will spend the next two nights.

Day 11   Full day in Zurich

Combine the fascinating city of Zurich with its beautiful surroundings on this extended afternoon sightseeing tour. Your guide will show you the highlights and you will cross Lake Zurich by ferry. Take the cable car to the Felsenegg viewpoint for a stunning view of the city, the lake and the snow-capped Alps.

Day 12   Zurich to London via Paris

It's your last day and time to head back to the UK. First, take the train from Zurich to Paris, where you can stop for lunch before the final leg, the Eurostar back to London.
