Day 1 London to Bordeaux via Paris
Departing in the morning from London's St Pancras station on the Eurostar, you arrive at Gare du Nord and make your way to the Gare de Lyon, from where you will catch your train for Bordeaux, which is just over 2 hours' away. Check into your choice of hotel (decided during the booking process) and enjoy the remainder of your day.
Day 2 Saint Emilion tour
This morning, depart Bordeaux for a Saint-Emilion wine tour. Visit two Châteaux and discover the UNESCO-listed medieval village of Saint-Emilion. Enjoy amazing picturesque scenery, excellent wine and a picnic lunch, all in the comfort of a small group with a knowledgeable and friendly guide.
Day 3 Train to San Sebastian + pintxos tour
After breakfast, it's time to leave Bordeaux for San Sebastian. It's a 2.5 hour journey to Hendaye, and then a quick hop on the metro. Check into your hotel and grab a late lunch, but don't eat too much because you will need an appetite for your evening Pintxos tour (Basque tapas). Explore the market and bar hop, tasting delicious regional dishes with wine.
Day 4 Train to Madrid
Leave San Sebastian on the 09:00 train and arrive in Madrid by the early afternoon. After checking in, you will have the rest of the day to enjoy Spain's beautiful capital.
Day 5 Madrid secret food tour
Today, discover a local Spanish food experience and enjoy the unique way locals eat out. You'll walk through streets where each and every corner has a story to tell. Eat seasonal pastry, the famous deep fried squid sandwich, drink wines and other alcohols, taste Spanish cheeses and hams, enjoy our secret dish and much more!
Day 6 Madrid
A full day to yourself to explore Madrid and its many highlights, including the Prada museum, the royal palace, Reina Sofía, Plaza de España ...
Day 7 Madrid to Barcelona
Hasta luego Madrid, and it's just 2.5 hours to Barcelona on the train. Get some good sightseeing in this afternoon because the next two days will be busy tasting food and wine!
Day 8 Barcelona - Catalan tapas tour
Authentic Spanish and Catalan tapas is on the menu. Taste a wide variety of the highest quality dishes, accompanied by a friendly guide who will tell you all about the history and gastronomy of this gorgeous city. Tour groups are small, meaning you will be able to go to the restaurants and eateries the locals love ... because they have the best food.
Day 9 Barcelona - e-bike tour + wine tasting
Meet your guide in the city centre and take the train to the sleepy Catalan town of Vilafranca del Penedès. Discover all the secrets of making wine and cava with this intimate bike tour. Stroll around the most beautiful wine routes of Penedès with a wonderful view of Montserrat. Visit an authentic family-owned winery and enjoy 2 tastings of exquisite organic wines and cavas! Either
Day 10 Train to Montpellier
Return to France today on a morning train to Montpellier. Check into your hotel and meet your local guide, with whom you will discover the main sites of the charming medieval city center of Montpellier and taste some regional specialties. Your first stop will be at the indoor market where you will taste a selection of regional cheeses and some seafood delights. Your guide will then lead you through the medieval streets to sample a “fougasse”, typical bread from the South of France, a pastry, olive oil and tapenade, chocolate and of course wine! You will taste 10 local specialties and see the main highlights of the historical district of Montpellier.
Day 11 Train to Lyon
It's just a short stay in Montpellier, but less than 2 hours to your next stop, France's gastronomic capital, Lyon. Relax at your leisure for the rest of the day.
Day 12 Lyon
Leaving after breakfast, set off for a half-day Beaujolais tour. Head north to Villefranche, the capital of Beaujolais. Start the tour with a stroll in the covered farmer’s market. You will walk around between the colourful stalls in a convivial atmosphere. Just like the locals, you will have a “Mâchon”, a traditional snack with charcuterie and cheese and a glass of Beaujolais wine, before taking the wine route, with its beautiful hills covered with vines. Thanks to your wine-passionate driver-guide you will learn everything about the wine-making process. The tour will end in a Cru village where you meet a winemaker who will tell you about his work and show you his estate before welcoming you in the wine-cellar for a tasting.
Day 13 Train to Paris
Leave early for Paris's Gare de Lyon this morning as there are two activities to fit in on your final day. Take to the streets in a Citroen 2CV for an hour, where you will see the main sights and explore the city's hidden alleys. Make time for a two-hour wine and cheese tasting session to complete your holiday.
Day 14 Eurostar home
Hopefully you are feeling full and satisfied after two weeks' of delicious food and wine tasting around France and Spain. Time to board the Eurostar and return to the UK.
